Black Rock Mountain State Park

What a wonderful weekend!  The weather was cooler and we headed up to the mountains for the first time in months.  We decided to try a new place to visit/hike.  It didn’t look like much from the main road in Mountain City, GA, but once we drove back in, we realized what a well-kept secret Black Rock Mountain State Park really is!

This was the view from the back porch of the visitor’s center.

After our picnic, all ready to head out hiking!

We took the 2.2 mile Tennessee Rock trail.  We took our time and got LOTS of pictures along the way.  The kids got their Junior Ranger Program books and started looking for things along the way to help them work toward their patches.

Tiny Little Flowers...

And Bold, Bright Flowers

At the top, we got quite a surprise… we’re used to hiking up in the mountains and never really getting a chance to see much from the top, but up here the view was incredible!

At different parts of the park, you can see NC, SC, and TN.

The weather was beautiful and the scenery was unbelievable.  It was a wonderful way to spend Labor Day weekend!

Looks like fun! I’m always looking for new great places to go like that. Hopefully my family can take a trip up there some day this fall. Thanks for sharing!
