Traveling with Children – Two Tips

Packing Tip #1:  For infants, put each entire outfit (onesie, romper, socks, diaper) into separate ziploc bags.  Squeeze out the air and you can pack a lot more into a smaller space.  When it’s time to dress the child for the day, ANYone can grab a bag and the whole outfit is there.

When they’re old enough to dress themselves, they can’t make AS big a mess when all they have to do is grab a bag and everything is there for them.  No rummaging through looking for a pair of socks.

Now that they’re even older, a whole outfit won’t fit in a ziploc bag, BUT shirt, underwear, and socks will, and pants can be packed loose.  Still less mess and they just have to grab a bag and a pair of pants.

We’ve been doing this since our second child was pretty small, and it’s by far the best way I’ve found.

Packing Tip #2:  The day before you head home, try to do all the laundry you can.  When you pack it back up, pack differently!  Pack socks together, shirts together, underwear together, etc., so that when you get home, all you have to do is open the suitcase and unload into drawers!  🙂

I love the ideas! Especially that one on the baby clothes! That would of came in handy for when mine were babies. I’ll have to pass this on to other mothers. Thanks for sharing. I hope you are feeling well and everything is going good with your little growing one. Have a wonderful weekend 🙂

Oh, this is BRILLIANT!!! I’m so glad you posted this while I still have such little ones. We don’t do much traveling because all the stress (packing clothes, packing food for the baby, packing toys, packing sleeping spots) really gets to me. This will certainly make the clothes-packing (and using) so much simpler!!!

    Thank you!

I like to pack each child’s clothes in a seperate bag – then those individule bags fit into one larger bag for ease in carrying. I find this to be very helpful and not quite as involed as seperate baggies for each outfit. Maybe I’ll try that next time.
