Everyone seems to have a plan or a system for staying organized, and I’ve gotten many good ideas just from reading other peoples’ blogs. Since I posted about getting ready for school, I’ve had lots of questions about how WE do it… what curriculum do we use? how do I keep the other kids busy/out of trouble while working with one of them? how do I do school and keep the house in some sort of order? (hint– I don’t have that one figured out completely yet!!)
So I’ll share some of what we do, but I certainly don’t think it’s the only way it should be done. It’s just what works for us. Right now. And it probably wouldn’t have worked last year, and it probably won’t work next year either! 😉
CURRICULUM:
Garrett (K5) – Abeka phonics/reading/writing; Saxon Math 1
Emma (3rd) – Abeka language arts/math/reading
Cassandra (5th) – Abeka language arts/math; reading is part of the Old Testament/Ancient Egypt program that both girls will be doing
Both girls – Bible/History – Veritas Press’ Old Testament/Ancient Egypt history (online); Science – Apologia Astronomy with lapbooks (Garret will, hopefully, be doing this as well…); Spelling – Phonetic Zoo
Now that all three are school age, I plan to combine as much as possible (science and history, especially) and just adapt some of the assignments and reading for their individual grades. We will fit art and home ec. in where we can. I have a lot of resources for those. We may start Latin (Latin for Children) second semester.
